RACE REPORTS

January 13, 2008, Firebird International Raceway Chandler,AZ

A really fun weekend down where the weather was perfect and the results the same,is how best to describe our adventure down south! As winter has begun in earnest here in Colorado I decided to make a plee in serch of others who share my love of racing and sought out warmer places to do so. Noticing that the CCS southwest had an event planned for the weekend of 1/12-13 I posted to the MRA site and asked if anyone was interested. Knowing that I may get a few bites I eagerly awaited peoples reply and sure enough was able to get what I sought..eager young riders and racers yurning for tracktime! As I am let's just say an experienced racer I remember Firebird well as I had raced there in the early ninties and had fond memories of the experience. The last time I raced there was 1995 December 18th a date I remember well as after placing well in a race there I managed to flip both truck and trailer three times on the way home just outside of Santa Fe NM. This part of that trip was let's say not the fond part of that trip! Regardless 13 years later I still own that truck as after that slight off road excursion I rebuilt the truck using a new cab and after 204,000 miles it's still going strong and I'm still able to find shards of glass in the interior!. Long story short trucks are safer than cars and regardless of the additional fuel it's worth it. That little trip down an embankment can best be descibed as worlds largest yardsale. None of my three passagers were harmed but my CD collection was scattered.
Anyhow after a brief 13 hour drive my navagator and I arrived, hey wait a minute did I say navagator... he couldn't find his way out of his driveway and took along a Tom Tom GPS therefore earning the name Tom Tom for the rest of the trip. To be continued.........
